Women In Business You Can Escape The “Busy Trap” With These Simple Strategies

Author: Live A Life Without Limits

One of the biggest questions we receive from women in business is: “How do I prioritize my time and fit it all in?”
To be honest this was one of the challenges we faced when we were new in our business journey. As women in business we noticed that some women we worked with were always organized and others to be perfectly honest were not.
And then we noticed it didn’t have anything to do with the size or success of their business. We thought we have got to figure this out!

How do these successful women in business escape the, “busy trap, and fit it all in”

For us what we found is that distractions, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or other, “busy work,”can often make you feel as if you don’t have time during the day to finish your tasks. You may feel that you are working all day, but in reality these sites are stealing your time. In return, your day is unfocused and unproductive.
For women in business it is important to get into good habits from the very beginning.

To help you stay focused and on track during your business day, we’ve created some time management tips for your success.

1. Unsubscribe: Clear out your email inbox to avoid unnecessary distractions. When you wake up to a mailbox full of information from “experts,” it is easy to feel overwhelmed and uncertain. If you are not following what a person is teaching, than you should not be receiving information from them. We recommend having one coach that you follow and unsubscribe from everything else that is not serving you. This allows you to focus your attention on the specific strategies you are being taught. Lets face it another trap is the constant information seeking and then no time for the action steps. We have to take the action to produce results!

2. Set Your Timer: We like to work in 20 min increments with 5 min breaks–meaning you set your timer for 20 minutes of work and during that 20 minutes you focus on one specific task. It may not be easy, but this means turning off your phone and not opening emails or surfing social media sites. Then for 5 minutes you can get up stretch, meditate, get a drink, refocus, etc.

3. Allocated Social Media Time: One of the biggest distractions online is social media, so we recommend giving yourself 30 minutes a day for social media, at a time that works best for you. Make a commitment that this is the only time you will have a social media window open for business. The remaining time throughout your day should be focused on the task at hand.

4. Clear Home Distractions: While working at home many things get in the way of focused work time. Kids come and go, personal phone calls, cooking and cleaning are common distractions. We recommend that it is best to separate home life and business. When you are working, work without doing laundry or cooking. You will need to create boundaries to get your work done, which can be difficult to adhere to–stay focused and committed.

We have also found that using distractions is a common way for us to avoid doing a more challenging project.

Ask yourself if you are using housework or other distractions to avoid doing other business projects.

Women in business that are working from home often have many distractions. To help separate from the distractions and become more disciplined, you need to learn to complete tasks and not waste time, or you will experience frustration.
